Boozhoo!
My name is Mona Skelding-Black. I was born, raised, schooled and worked in Gravenhurst, Muskoka. In my 60'ish years, I have been a waitress, a cashier, a customer service rep, a book-keeper, a supervisor, and lastly, a pharmacy assistant! Then I retired at 60!
Two years ago I was able to register for my Certificate of Indian Status. The roots on my Mother's side of the family, my grandfather's mother, my great-grandmother, was 100% Objiway Indian from Whitefish Lake First Nation, now the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek Band, and was raised in Wanapatei, Ontario.
To learn the history, the language and the arts from my heritage line is my goal now...to give some of my time to my ancestry line!!
I look forward to joining the MIFC team, to share my experiences and opinions, and "giving back" to my hometown.
