Becoming A Member…..

Becoming a member of the Muskoka Indigenous Friends Cultural Centre makes you part of the greater community of the local urban Indigenous people in Muskoka. With that–your voice matters! Your input helps to direct the Board of Directors when making decisions about local programs and services.

Indigenous and Non-Indigenous community members of Muskoka can become members. However, only 1 Non-Indigenous individual can be sitting on the Board of Directors at any time. Additionally, a Non-Indigenous Board Member can only hold the Officer Positions of either Treasurer or Secretary.

So, although we welcome our allies, we strongly want to encourage and hear from our Indigenous membership about what their needs are in the community. Our mandate is to improve the quality of life for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit, Status and Non-Status who live in the urban environment of The District Municipality of Muskoka. Did you know–87% of Indigenous people reside in urban communities.

We need your voices to let us know how we can help improve the quality of life for Indigenous people locally.
