SUMMARY:Gravenhurst--Walk With A Soft Moccasin--Day 1
DESCRIPTION:This is a special 2024 healing project that we have entitled: Walk With A Soft Moccasin. \nOver the past few months participants have been working with various deer and moose hyde projects and building their creative beading skills. The end goal is to have urban Muskoka Indigenous community members feel confident with these materials to now make the ultimate–their own pair of moccasins. \nDay 1 is where the participants will work on moose hyde and create a personalized beading design. It is not expected that participants will complete both vamps (the tops of the moccasin) today. Rather\, participants will get a good start and then take home to complete before we gather in October to assemble the moccasins. \nVarious moccasins from the 1800’s will be on site to use as inspiration and teachings. \nDue to the costs involved in a moccasin workshop and the need to make this available to as many urban Muskoka Indigenous community members as possible\, this activity is not open to our non-Indigenous allies at this time. Maarsii\, Miigwetch\, Nia:wen\, Thank You for understanding the need for this healing activity among the Indigenous community. \nFREE TO ATTEND–LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE \nLUNCH / REFRESHMENTS PROVIDED \nFunding for this activity is provided by:

SUMMARY:Huntsville–Walk With A Soft Moccasin–Day 2
DESCRIPTION:This is a special 2024 healing project that we have entitled: Walk With A Soft Moccasin. \nOver the past few months participants have been working with various deer and moose hyde projects and building their creative beading skills. The end goal is to have urban Muskoka Indigenous community members feel confident with these materials to now make the ultimate–their own pair of moccasins. \nDay 2 is where the participants will take their previously beaded vamps and assemble into a completed moccasin. Participants will be working with sinew\, berber lining\, and fur top edging.

SUMMARY:Gravenhurst--Orange Quilt Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In 2021 over 6\,000 orange ribbons were tied at the Silver Bridge in Bracebridge. After they were taken down it was determined that these ribbons would be used in an ongoing teaching tool. A Community Quilt. However\, it takes time and a lot of sewers\, experienced or not\, to come together and work on quilt blocks. \nWill you join us as we blitz work on the quilt? Time to get some more squares completed–and with 6\,000 ribbons\, it is going to take a lot of squares.
