DESCRIPTION:Thanks to a generous grant from the Anglican Foundation of Canada\, we have been able to have members make their own Ribbon Skirts\, Ribbon Shirts\, and Hand Drums. In June\, a special Drum Birthing Ceremony was held. Now comes the next step–2 weeks to work on making quilted drum bags to protect your hand drums and make a safe way to transport them to events\, pow wows\, and drumming circles. This is week 2.

DESCRIPTION:WEEK 4–FINAL WEEK \nAs part of our “Bringing the Heartbeat and Ceremony Alive” workshops\, we are offering a Ribbon Skirt making activity. A goal of the Muskoka Indigenous Friendship Centre in 2023 is to help community members start to build those healing bundles. This activity is being provided for the next few weeks in order to help as many people as possible finish their creations before June 20–our Drum Birthing Day and National Indigenous Day (June 21). \nThis workshop is made possible by a grant from The Anglican Foundation of Canada in its support of Indigenous led healing initiatives.

DESCRIPTION:The first of our 2023 Bracebridge workshops is happening. Today we will be sewing simple felt Strawberries with beads . Strawberry Teachings along with some Cedar Teachings will be presented. \nOur 2023 Bracebridge Workshop location is the Bracebridge Public Library. We will be in the upper level in the historic side of the building. Come\, learn a skill\,  teachings\, and build community friendship. DESCRIPTION:The Town of Bracebridge\, alongside Mayor Rick Maloney\, will be holding a cheque presentation and photo session for all 2023 Event Tourism and Community Grant recipients next Thursday\, May 25 at 1:00pm. The event will take place at Annie Williams Memorial Park on the main stage. \nThe Muskoka Indigenous Friendship Centre is one of the Community Grant recipients. This grant will allow us to provide once a month programs in Bracebridge at the Bracebridge Public Library from June-December 2023.
